IOBT to host 2004 NW Buddhist Convention!
We're pleased to announce that Roy Hasebe and Kathy Chatterton have stepped forward and volunteered to serve as co-chairmen for this event! This will be held primarily at the Four Rivers Cultural Center on February 13-15, 2004.
We have a wide variety of positions that need to be filled. The success of this convention depends on you, our members. We encourage you to consider what areas you might like to assist with.
Please review this list of jobs and contact one of us if you'd like to lend a hand. Your consideration and participation are sincerely appreciated.

News Around the Temple by Ann NagakiIt was wonderful not having to worry to get the August bulletin but here I am, have to hurry to get the September one out - how time flies when you're having fun and don't have to worry.
Thanks to the Weiser-Caldwell and Nampa ladies for doing their Toban duties for the Obon Services. Guest Speaker was Reverend Kujo from San Mateo, California.
Our biggest event was the Japan Night Obon Festival. A big "Thank You" goes out to our Chairperson's, George Gledhill and Bob Mizuta for doing a fine job. With everyone's help and the many donations towards the Festival - we had another successful event. Might mention that we had lots of non-member church members helping out this year - it was appreciated very much. Thanks to All! This was the first big event with our "new kitchen". We got the use of opening every easy sliding drawer and the use of the new vents for rice cooking - everything was in working order. Thanks for the Fujinkai for the remodeling job! One more thanks to Yas Teramura for making a drain tray where the veggies were washed and also a wash spray installed. It makes our job easier and worked wonderfully!
Yasuko Kino and Shiz Inouye accompanied Reverend Tada for the July Nursing Home Visitation. Thanks ladies for taking time to visit the shut-in's.
No sooner than we got done with the Obon Festival, and the Malheur County Fair started with the "Happy Bowl" booth, which we worked on for a week. Can't express our appreciation for everyone's help and all the vegetable donations. Our gross was a little lighter this year, but then again, not bad. We're happy with the results! While some of us were helping for the happy bowls, others were busy helping with the Meals on Wheels deliveries - thanks to Glo Shimojima and Kazuko Kuramoto for taking care of this.
Notice: No Fujinkai Meeting will be held in September, and the October meeting will be delayed to October 13th at 1:00 p.m. because of the Bazaar kakimochi making on October 6th.

"Gee, kids, it is time to start Dharma School! We will begin September 8th with service starting at 10:30 a.m. Then the teachers will be serving lunch to the whole congregation. It would be a good time for those of you that went on our trip to Bend/Redmond to share your pictures with each other while the teachers are preparing lunch. Hope to see you all on the 8th!"
